Riviera Blue 911 RSR Race Car With 964 3.8L G50 5 Speed Race Car Upgrade Conversions

We fit this 911 race car with a 3.8L 964 based RSR engine, and coupled it to a 1989 G50 transaxle.
The gearbox has all the tricks, tall 2.8 ratio first gear mainshaft set with close ratio gears straight thru 5th gear.
We set the G50 up with a Quaife torque biasing differential and our billet side cover.

Now it was time to run the car in the real world at the race track, we were able to fit in 2 track days at Firebird Raceway. We spent one day on the EAST track (4 nice straights with good braking zones), and one day at the WEST track (featuring 1 long straight, but mainly consisting of transitioning turns that allow you to practice your trail braking skills, along with 2 great carousels).
We like the Firebird WEST track for testing because it lets you hang out the car in a variety of corners. This is great for getting the 911 right to the ragged edge, this is the only way to help you dial in the car!
The passenger footwell houses the COOL SHIRT - PRO AIR & WATER SYSTEM COMPLETE - 24 QUART - The Pro Air & Water System comes with a 24 quart cooling unit with an internal pump that supplies temperature-controlled cool water to the shirt and HEPA-4 filtered, chilled air to your helmet via a 235 CFM blower.
Eight feet of double insulated water hose with automatic shutoff/quick disconnects attach the shirt to the unit, and the Dual Temperature Control Switch allows the user to regulate the flow and the temperature of water for personal comfort based on external temperature variation. This 911 RSR is using our big brake conversion, featuring original fit Porsche 993 Twin Turbo "Big Red" brake calipers and 993 turbo brake rotors. This is accomplished with our 7075 billet aluminum brake rotor adaptor hats and billet aluminum caliper mounts. These rotor hats are fitted to 930 ( 911 turbo ) front hubs 1981-1989. We also offer these rotor hats for 911 aluminum hubs, call for your application.
Installed in the left front wheel well is a SETRAB oil cooler with GOODRIDGE fittings and stainless steel hoses. You can also see the GOODRIDGE fire sleeve over the fuel lines to keep them cool & safe.
The steering system uses our anti bump steer kit that fits Porsche 914 / 911 / 930 . We also used our front control arm set that fits all Porsche 911 / 914 they are converted to early anti-sway bar type mounts, d-loops removed and u- tabs installed. If you are looking for a more responsive ride and handling use our delrin bushings on all suspension mounts. The stock rubber mounts will soften with age and cause loose and unresponsive handling.

Behind the shock you see the anti-sway bar system. This fits all Porsche 912 / 914 / 911 / 930 '65-'89 -it is a 25 MM hollow light weight, it has the stiffness of the 22mm solid bars. They are heat treated 4130 chrome moly. The kit includes the fully adjustable 6061 T6 aluminum bearing blocks, drop links and arms.

This 911 RSR is using our 17 gallon FUEL SAFE SA100 fuel cell. Take advantage of the dual feed AP brake fluid reservoirs, we used 2, one to feed the dual pedal master cylinder system and one for the hydraulic clutch master cylinder.

G50 Transaxle - Quaife Close Ratio Gears / ATB Differential. The Quaife torque biasing differential enables your car to accelerate quicker and corner faster. How? By getting the power to the ground! The Quaife Differential powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions, instead of just one.
With an ordinary open differential, standard on most cars, a lot of precious power is wasted during wheel spin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip (along the path of least resistance). The Quaife, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel. In drag-race style, straight-line acceleration runs, this results in a close to ideal 50/50 power split to both drive wheels, resulting in essentially twice the grip of an ordinary differential (they don't call open diffs "peglegs" for nothing).
In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the Quaife biases power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin. This allows the driver to begin accelerating earlier, exiting the corner at a higher speed. The Quaife also controls loss of traction when the front wheels are on slippery surfaces such as ice and snow or mud, providing the appropriate biased traction needed to overcome these adverse conditions. The Quaife Differential provides constant and infinitely variable drive. Power is transferred automatically without the use of normal friction pads or plates seen in other limited-slip designs. The Quaife's unique design offers maximum traction, improves handling and steering, and puts the power where it is needed most. A definite advantage whether on the track or on the street. The Quaife is extremely strong and durable and since the Quaife is gear operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly replacement.

Here we are spinning up the flywheel & clutch package for the 1987 1989 G-50 transmission. We start with balancing our 240mm lightweight flywheel to less than 0.1 oz per inch from center using our CWT 5000 digital balancer system. We then add the G50 aluminum pressure plate, starter ring gear and complete the assembly.
