(For reference, Corvettes ran the same in 15.7 seconds back then)This restoration now looks and feels like Day 1 off the dealer lot, and we love it! She arrived with a bit of an identity crisis, and questionable installations throughout. The owner wanted a complete restoration - as if brand new! Porsche 904 Carrera GTS Fuhrmann Engine

Produced from 1953 to 1964, the Type 547 engine was one of Porsche’s greatest motors.  The motor came out of the desire for more revs and more power, something the Beetle derived pushrod motors could not deliver on.  Going from the agricultural Beetle motor to the four cam seemed about as big as a jump as the Wright Flyer to the Saturn V rocket.   By utilizing overhead camshafts, valvetrain mass is lowered, this allows the engine to rev higher before reaching valve float.  As well, flow through the heads can be better optimized as there is no pushrod impeding air...

Bright orange, stretched fenders, and a loud exhaust.  Driving down the road, everyone stares.  While on the outside it may look and sound like a racecar, on the inside it feels far from it.  There is still air conditioning and the Recaro seats are both heated and ventilated, a huge luxury in the Arizona heat.    Out on the open road, the steering is darty and eager to turn in.  The vehicle feels taught, with no hesitation on initial turn-in.  Planted through undulations, bump steer is well controlled.  Using the brakes requires a lead foot just like any racecar.  Once proper...
