1974 914/4 to 914/6 3.6L DME 915 Upgrade Conversion - Black Beauty

This 1974 914 started life as a Southern California 4 cyl. daily driver. Now this "Black Beauty" should be right on the streets of San Diego! 1995 993 DME engine converted for 914 application. 1986 915 transmission with WEVO tail shift and PMS shift linkage system. This system works beyond belief!
This 1974 914-4 chassis was very clean, we repaired a few rust areas, a little accident damage from the past, and then adding a full cage system w/o door bars for the street & steel GT flares and GT front oil cooler system.
This car is fitted with our front oil cooler system the Setrab oil cooler part # PMP 500-15NPT3/4, with installation kit part # PKG 9146GT-FTOC-KIT.
This is plumbed to the engine using Goodridge fittings and stainless braided hoses. Adding an oil cooler system is a must for operation of the air cooled engines in warmer climates as the factory engine mounted cooler just does not keep your engine operating in its optimal temperature range, causing premature engine wear and loss of performance.
Our systems have been designed to keep your engine operating at its desired operating temperature which extends engine life and improves performance.

Also pictured in front of the wheel is our rear toe rod adjustment kit - Porsche 914 - includes rod systems with spherical bearings, adjustable hardware, pre-modified and powder coated carrier brackets and 2 steel weld in rocker mounting plates. The factory rear adjustments are very difficult and time consuming to do. This kit makes the toe adjustment simple, and gives you better control for different applications.

The Odyssey battery (part number BAT ODY PC 925 A) has been relocated to the trunk and mounted with our battery carrier mount - for Odyssey PC 925 battery - steel mount with hardware - black powder coated finish - (NEW KIT AVAILABLE: PMP914925LKIT)
This gives more engine room and removes the nasty looking old battery box. With the new gel cell batteries you no longer have to worry about battery acid destroying your bodywork and rear carpeting.
Battery Disconnect Terminal End Kit - simply unscrew the green knob to disconnect battery power - a must for less frequently driven cars (# ELEBQD-X)

Also pictured is the oil thermostat with AN-12 male fitting 180 degree operation - mocal ot2 type (# OIL12THER or 901 107 T180 AN12 PMS) this is needed to keep the engine operating at the correct temperature. This unit is designed to bypass the cooler until the oil temperature is at 180 degrees, and closes if it drops below that temperature.

THIS PICTURE SHOWS THE AREA THAT THE STEEL GT FLARES ARE MOUNTED. AFTER PROPERLY FITTING EACH FLARE THE LOWER AREA IS REMOVED AND EACH FLARE IS BUTT WELDED TO THE CAR. THEY ARE THEN METAL FINISHED TOP AND BOTTOM, THEN ETCH PRIMED BEFORE CONTINUING. (PART NUMBER BOD 914GTSFS)

THE METAL FLARE INSTALLATION ALMOST FINISHED. WE TAKE THE EXTRA TIME TO FINISH THESE PROPERLY AND NOT JUST CORRECT PROBLEMS WITH BODY FILL. MANY BODY SHOPS WILL USE BODY FILLER TO FILL IN LARGE AREAS. THIS LOOKS GOOD INITIALLY, HOWEVER IT WILL NOT LAST AND WITH OUR EXTREME TEMPERATURES, WILL IN TIME SHRINK AND CRACK. THIS WILL COST MUCH MORE TO REPAIR THAN JUST DOING THE JOB CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME!
